What is up with these social networks? Ning, myspace, facebook? I just don’t get it. If you are not looking for a date, unwanted attention, or the typical “myspace girl” pose (my wife joke about this pose…the one where the girl…well, use your imagination) then what is the point?

Ok, now I jumped off my soap box and caught your attention, I actually do get some things, and see benefits in these networks. I had an old college roommate (now turned club promoter) who used to rant and rave about how good of a tool MySpace was for networking. I checked it out, but from what I saw, it looked like MySpace was only for perv’s. But once you get in the right circles, you begin to meet some really nice, productive people. Now the funk that is on there still outnumbers the other people. Nonetheless, it is just like the internet. Like Spiderman’s uncle told him,”With great power comes great responsibility.” Same applies with the internet. Used correctly, one can harness the power (knowledge), and do extraordinary things. Others prefer to just surf for porn nonsense. I suppose myspace is the same way. If you go looking for it, you will find it.

Now facebook…I still really don’t get. that one is kind of stupid to me. I understand the widgets, and some things are cool on there, but overall it is garbage to me. I must admit, looking at people’s photos through MySpace is addictive, so going from that to Facebook makes you just want to close the site never to revisit again. MySpace has a bad rap, and for good reason, but there really are a lot of ministries and good resources available.

Corny title, but first thing that came to mind. Today is my wife’s birthday. Four children, and she is still as sexy as the day I met her! Wow am I lucky.
